Renewable Energy Expansion: Powering the Free State

With South Africa’s growing investment in renewable energy, Roadlab Bloemfontein is ensuring quality and durability in the construction of major wind and solar farms across the province.

Koruson Renewable Energy Wind Farm (Middleburg)
Roadlab is providing ongoing control testing including plate load testing to determine the bearing capacity of turbine foundations and CBR testing for access road stability and foundation reinforcement.

Grasspan Solar Farm (Kimberley)
Our geotechnical and materials testing scope includes density testing for foundation compaction and soil stability and concrete cube strength testing 
to ensure structural integrity of solar panel bases.

Springbok Solar Farm (Welkom) - Completed
We have successfully completed geotechnical and concrete strength testing investigations on this project, ensuring compliance with engineering and regulatory standards.

Virginia Solar Farm (Welkom) – New Appointment
We were recently awarded control testing services for this newly built solar farm from March 2025.

Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality - Bloemfontein
Roadlab Bloemfontein was awarded 66 km of geotechnical testing for the Integrated Public Transport Network (IPTN). We are currently providing geotechnical investigation services for Phase 1B & 1C of the network, ensuring the long-term durability of new road infrastructure. 

Matjhabeng Local Municipality - Welkom
We have conducted geotechnical investigations for the repair and unblocking of sewer networks, addressing aging and collapsed infrastructure in key areas such as Allanridge, Bronville, Flamingo Park, Meloding, and Ventersburg.

Upgrading of Saulsport Water Treatment Works
Roadlab is maintaining quality control testing for one of the largest water treatment plant upgrades in Bethlehem, a project spanning 22 months.
