Concluded Projects in October 2025

October saw the conclusion of the Mabunyaneng and Khubelu Bridges in the Lesotho Highlands, the 14-year Kusile Power Station programme in Mpumalanga and vital national and regional corridors in the North-West and Free State — each strengthened by Roadlab’s accredited testing.

Delivered Projects - October 2025

Four Roadlab site laboratories completed their work this month.

Each conclusion reflects accredited processes, rigorous compliance, and reliable data — delivering the confidence that projects will perform as designed, and the trust that results will stand the test of time.

LUSIP II: Khubelu and Mabunyaneng Bridges

In the highlands of Lesotho, the Mabunyaneng and Khubelu Bridges are now complete.

These critical crossings were built under the Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase II, one of Southern Africa’s most ambitious water and hydropower programmes.

Spanning valleys at altitude, these bridges required engineering accuracy and material resilience throughout construction.

Roadlab’s site laboratory provided concrete and soil testing, geotechnical investigations, density verification, material classifications, and strength assessments, ensuring that every stage met the strictest performance standards.

Kusile Power Station

Roadlab has completed its role at Kusile Power Station, our longest-running project, concluding 14 years of testing.

Our dedicated team delivered a full scope of quality assurance testing required for one of SA's most critical power stations.

Over the project lifetime we samples many tons of soil, asphalt and concrete, performed thousands of density tests and conducted investigations including concrete strength testing, crack measurements and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing.

These efforts ensured the quality, safety, and long-term durability of works at Kusile, which continues to play a central role in electricity distribution across the country.

Welkom Road Rehabilitation

In Welkom, the heart of the Free State’s mining economy, the X.004-128 project has reached completion, upgrading a busy regional route that supports both industry and local communities.

Roadlab’s laboratory delivered soil classification, compaction and density checks, and full range of asphalt verification testing, providing the confidence that every layer met design specifications.

Bloemhof Road Maintainence

The X.004-128 Bloemhof project has successfully concluded, improving rural access and strengthening one of the North West’s key corridors.

Roadlab supported the works with soil and asphalt testing, compaction checks, and density verification, ensuring that materials delivered long-term stability in a demanding environment.

Commitment to Quality: A SANAS-Accredited Facility

At Roadlab, quality is what we do.

This commitment to excellence shapes how we support infrastructure development across the Western Cape — from dense urban upgrades to remote renewable energy builds.

By continually refining our geotechnical, concrete, and materials testing processes, we help ensure that the region’s roads, bridges, coastal structures, and wind farms are built to endure.

Our work is underpinned by strict adherence to SANAS accreditation standards, ensuring that every test we perform meets national and international benchmarks for accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
